About Us
Fish Creek Angus prioritizes
maternal genetics, calm temperaments, and community impact through veterans’ retreats, blending business, purpose, and innovative breeding philosophy in their operations.
At Fish Creek Angus, we believe in doing things differently. Founded by a 29-year Air Force veteran with a passion for superior cattle and meaningful community impact, our ranch focuses on developing calm, gentle Angus cattle with strong maternal genetics. Inspired by the maternal-focused breeding approach at Coleman Ranch, our journey began with the purchase of Donna 4230, a cow that transformed our herd’s genetic foundation. Nestled on 550 acres between Montana’s Fish Creek and Clark Fork River, we’re dedicated to raising cattle that are not only beautiful and structurally sound but also easy to handle for ranches of all sizes. Beyond cattle, we host annual five-day veterans retreats in partnership with Freedom Alliance, offering healing through horsemanship, nature, and community.
At Fish Creek Angus, we’re driven by a commitment to uplifting the Angus breed, supporting our nation’s veterans, and stewarding the land we call home.

Veterans Retreat at Fish Creek Angus
Our Veterans Retreat was born from a desire to give back to those who have served. As a veteran-owned ranch, we partner with Freedom Alliance to host immersive five-day retreats designed to support veterans navigating PTSD and life transitions. Guests experience Montana’s beauty while learning horsemanship from the ground up – saddling, riding, and connecting deeply with horses and nature. Guided by the principles of Dr. Ed Tick’s Warriors Return, each retreat helps veterans rediscover purpose, community, and healing. We have seen significant results, such as guests reconnecting with their families and once-isolated veterans engaging with life again. These retreats have become one of the most meaningful parts of our work at Fish Creek Angus.

This land was first homesteaded by Andrew Garcia, a pioneer whose life was as rich as the Montana landscape itself. He is best known for Tough Trip Through Paradise, which tells the story of his year spent living alongside the Nez Perce Indians from 1878 to 1879. Today, his final resting place remains here on the ranch he once called home.
